Hello from Galveston County, Texas!
Grandson is racing TORCS... Texas Offroad Racing Champion Series... it's enduro racing.
It took me about 2 grand to turn his crf110f into a formidable race bike including, throttle body, intake manifold, pipe, tune & suspension. He's doing great and has gone full moto! Hahaha!
I read your essay comparing the crf150 f & r versions. Good stuff, thanks! My question is, which is more cost "friendly"... boosting the "f" into a formidable enduro race bike, or, toning down the "R" for likewise?
My plan, if we can call it such, is to snag up a crf150 that I can ride with him then he take it when he moves up. That's the basis for my question.

Hey Jack, thanks for reaching out! Glad you found my content helpful. Generally, for racing, it would be easier to start with the CRF150R if your grandson doesn't mind kick-starting it. It might cost more to buy the bike, but to make the CRF150F comparable, you'll have to spend more time and probably just as much money on it. The 150R is definitely harder to ride (takes more energy), so if you want something that's easier to ride, then the 150F with some suspension tuning might be the better choice. What do you think, Jack?
