What Causes A Dirt Bike To Run Poorly?

The most common carburetor & jetting-related symptoms are caused by one of the following:

• Using pump gas (with 10% ethanol or more) - ethanol attracts water and breaks down faster, causing it to clog jets
• Letting it sit for 6-12+ months - the longer gas sits in your carb (especially gas with ethanol), the more likely it is to cause problems
• Cleaning a carb with "carb cleaner" spray - It's often not enough to clear badly clogged jets/passages, but it also DESTROYS rubber seals and gaskets much quicker.
• Using a "Factory" jetting spec for your jets - It's a good starting point, but dirt bike manufacturers often set up their bikes on the "lean" side in order to meet EPA (emission) regulations.
• Incorrectly or insufficiently rebuilding a carburetor - many people attempt to clean and/or rebuild their carburetor, but there are many components and small passages that it can be easy to miss something important
• Riding in a different climate - elevation, temperature, and humidity can greatly affect how your bike runs because the amount of oxygen in the air varies, which changes the fuel mixture
• Old age/high miles - internal parts wear out with age and use, causing an inefficient fuel mixture, but 99% of OEM dirt bike carburetors are rebuildable!
• Using an aftermarket eBay/Amazon carb ($35-50) - the tolerances and build quality are not as good as a genuine OEM carb, so it can be difficult to get it to run right and stay reliable

You can drop your bike off, and then pick it up when done. Lead time is based on parts availability (if applicable) plus 3-5 business days (Mon-Fri).

Or If You Just Need Your Carburetor Cleaned & Rebuilt:

• Small engine/single carbs (dirt bike/motorcycle/chainsaw/lawnmower/leaf blower/etc)
• Ultrasonic cleaned
• Safe on gaskets/o-rings (I've cleaned countless carbs over the years with this cleaning solution) - "Carb cleaner" products typically do more harm than good and don't do a "deep cleaning" job that's needed for carbs that have been sitting for months or years.
• You would remove the carb from your bike and ship it or drop it off (Oak Grove, MN). Turnaround time is typically 24-48 hours during weekdays (Mon-Fri).
• Carb will be disassembled and all passages cleaned
• There's a 50% chance that the o-rings will leak when reassembled (this is due to the rubber hardening/cracking from age or harsh chemicals/fuel sitting in the carb).
• You have three options: 1 - Buy a carb gasket/rebuild kit yourself. 2 - Have me order the parts and I will charge you the cost. 3 - Reuse the current gaskets, knowing they may or may not leak.
